The more I look at it,
The more I like it.
I do think it’s good.
The fact is...
No matter how closely I study it,
No matter how I take it apart,
No matter how I break it down,
It remains consistent.
I wish you were here to see it.
I've been terribly, terribly undisciplined, lately. I have a bad case of twitterpatedness, and know that it's going to bite me in the ass next week (3 exams plus a cat spay). But I'm carrying this little ember around inside me, which ignites into a bonfire at the drop of a hat... it's fiercely distracting. (And I thought these days were over for me!)
Life is beautiful, classes are interesting, and who needs sleep, anyhow?
Yesterday, Brent dropped by just as I was gearing up to go to radiology lab... I didn't go to radiology lab. (Gave my prof, who is a dangerous woman, some lame-ass excuse plus profuse abject apologies today when she called me into her office... urk. The problem with being so recognized, and recognizable.) I didn't study, either. I went to another wonderful Indian dinner with Brent (which ended up in a massively inappropriate silly-fest with Amy, my assistant editor, and Angela, Brent's crony and one of my new friends from the dive trip). Then I went to Brent's house, overlooking the sea, and went skinny-dipping in the pool (until we realized that the people upstairs were awake and more than likely hosting the assistant Dean and his family -- oops). Lulled to sleep by the song of the sea, and woken to dawn light. I am wallowing disgracefully in romance. I am entirely unapologetic about it.
Surprise: just before we waltzed out the door for dinner, guess who should call? Angel! That's right -- the guy who dropped off the face of the planet 2 months ago! (Apparently, neither cell phone nor email worked in Guyana, where he was for 6 weeks, building his house; the other weeks he was attending a continuing education course in Trinidad.) Weird! I recognized his voice right away, but didn't believe it...
Life is just bizarre, sometimes!
Another bit of news, and exciting news at that: Dave's coming to visit!!! I finally get to show someone my home, my life, my crazy little rock in the Caribbean sea! I get two whole weeks with my best friend! Yayyy! (*Insert wildly flailing Kermit-the-frog arms here*) Another major distraction! Just what I need! (At least Dave can give me a boot to the head to get me to study!)
My laundry needs done. My house needs cleaned. My brain needs rattling, to get it back online. Brent's in the same boat. We talked about coming up for air today ("decompressing", after too much "bottom time" was the metaphor, I believe -- appropriate, coming from my dive buddy)...
Nah. This is more fun.
(P.S. The photo: Brent, Halloween last year. See if you can name that 80s TV show character! See why I like him?)
